We welcome you to apply to serve as a Mentor to the youth here at Magnify, where you can help shape a young person’s future and have a positive effect on their life. Someday your Protégé will pass on your teachings to others!
MAGNIFY Mentors are people willing to use their wisdom, knowledge, and experiences for the good of those around them. A mentor offers knowledge, insight, perspective, or advice that is beneficial to the other person in the relationship which goes beyond duty or obligation.
Without proper guidance and help, young adults may make misinformed choices that can lead to them also doing so professionally, which in turn could affect them significantly later in life.
As an adult with valuable experience, you could mentor a young adult who is struggling. You can help steer them in the right direction while helping a young person in need avoid the heartache and time-wasting that comes from making the wrong choices in their adolescence.
A mentor must be 21+ years of age with at least three years of experience in the areas of S.T.E.A.M., Computer Science, or Performance/Creative Arts Professionals.
A mentor will likely devote 1 – 3 hours per week to student engagement.
The Magnify Program will run from January thru June, aligning with the local school district calendar and observing their holidays.
Through being a Mentor you will receive excellent experience in leadership and skill-building. Participating in this program will be a standout feature on job applications and resumes, proving that you work well with others and have leadership skills. MAGNIFY also offers various incentives such as press coverage and Mentorship spotlights.
MAGNIFY is 100% virtual! We hold optional in-person kickoff events at the beginning of each program period for those interested, fully in compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
We call the person receiving mentoring a mentee or a Protégé. Protégés will learn from Mentors who have experienced similar struggles and overcome their circumstances. Protégés will grow emotionally and professionally through guidance and ongoing support from their Mentors. The bonds built in the MAGNIFY program will inspire confidence and instill strength.
